The Sehlke team that supports the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy (DASN) (Financial Management Systems) (FMS) is a small group that enables the efficient operations of a high tempo department responsible for the transformation of the Navy’s financial management systems and processes. The Sehlke team implements new Assistant Secretary of the Navy (ASN) guidance for all DASNs and coordinates all packages requiring ASN review in the Department of the Navy (DON) tracker system for the department. Additionally, we format and route all correspondence requiring SES level signatures at both the ASN and DASN levels. The Sehlke team is responsible for compiling and submitting the ASN weekly Situation Summary (SITSUM) using the information from FMS’s division director’s dashboard. The FMS team consolidates the operational status from five different divisions within FMS and creates a dashboard brief that allows risks to be identified to FMS front office leadership. The FMS team facilitates meetings for the DASN with external agencies to ensure a proactive communication flow exists to identify FMS priorities and their progress, which may affect other partner organizations. In addition to executive operations, the Sehlke team has been responsible for coordinating a refresh of the majority of the FMS division’s government-furnished computers and equipment during a remote working environment, ensuring FMS staff’s continuous operational capability is maintained. In summary, the Sehlke team makes FMS operations more efficient and effective, leveraging our competency with employees who were previous DON senior leadership executive assistants and aides-de-camp.
